TISE Communications Journal

Welcome to TISE Communications!

A new science-to-public journal for advancing transdisciplinary education

We are delighted to announce the launch of TISE Communications Journal dedicated to exploring and advancing transdisciplinary education.

In a time of increasingly complex and interconnected global transitions, new ways of learning, thinking, and acting are more essential than ever. TISE Communications emerges as a space for dialogue that connects disciplines, people, and knowledge systems—linking science and society through shared inquiry and collaboration. Founded under the Erasmus Mundus Joint Master in Transition, Innovation, and Sustainability Environments, a European excellence program co-funded by the European Union, the journal builds on TISE’s pioneering work in bridging research and teaching, theory and practice.

The Launch Issue “Towards Transdisciplinary Education”

Our launch issue “Towards Transdisciplinary Education” marks the beginning of the ongoing mutual learning. It opens with a section introducing the development of transdisciplinarity within the TISE program—sharing experiences, practices, and lessons learned from our collective work. This is followed by five special contributions from TISE lecturers, Liliya Satalkina and Kay Mühlmann, and TISE alumni, Anna Weber, Chiara Miozzo and John Warren Tamor, highlighting the diverse voices and expertise that shape transdisciplinary education today.

With this launch, TISE Communications establishes itself as a living dialogue—a space for knowledge integration between science and practice, educators and learners. Through openness, collaboration, and critical reflection, we aim to cultivate collective intelligence and co-creation of knowledge, building the foundations for the transformative educational models our societies need.

Join the Conversation

Whether you are an educator, researcher, practitioner, or student, this is an invitation to share your insights, experiment with new formats, and engage with a growing community of inquiry exploring transdisciplinary education. Together, we are creating a community of inquiry and practice, where transdisciplinary education is not only discussed but continuously lived, tested, and reimagined.

TISE Communications welcome contributions that share reflections, experiences, or research. Submissions can take the form of essays, reflections, design reports, dialogue pieces, or practice notes, and may include graphics such as diagrams, illustrations, or photos. We ask that submissions be up to 5 pages in length (approximately 12,500–15,000 characters including spaces). All contributions should be accompanied by a short author biography and a portrait photo. For any inquiries or to submit a contribution, please contact the TISE Secretariat at: tise@donau-uni.ac.at
