Insurance
All Erasmus Mundus Scholarship holders are automatically insured by TISE. The insurance is provided by Expat.Co and covers students during their study period under TISE in all European countries.
Here you will find a guide on how to proceed in the event of an insurance claim.
Please note: All TISE students who do not receive an Erasmus Mundus Scholarship (self-funded students and Consortium scholarship holders) are not insured by us!
In this case, we also recommend that you take out insurance with Expat&Co.
An overview of benefits and prices can be found in the benefits guide.

Legalization of University Documents
- For the application process, university documents do NOT require legalization (but they may have to be translated into English, see above).
- Legalization may be necessary after a student has been selected for participation and is asked to submit university documents from the first university degree for the admission process at Danube University Krems (as coordinating institution of TISE).
- The legalization requirements depend on the country where the university documents have been issued. For more information, see the information provided on the website of Danube University Krems, section on Legalization of foreign documents.
- The necessity of legalization depends on bilateral agreements between the Republic of Austria and other countries in which university documents are issued. Please note that for some countries legalization may be suspended, cf. information by Federal Ministry of the Republic of Austria for Europe, Integration and Foreign Affairs: https://www.bmeia.gv.at/en/tr

Bank account
Erasmus Mundus scholarships can only be transferred to European bank accounts. This means, that all students from non-EU countries are required to open an EU-compliant account in any bank that is registered in any of the EU countries. For instance, this can be done at a Portuguese bank upon arrival to Lisbon. The NIF (Portuguese Tax Identification Number) is a fundamental personal identification element for acts related to the opening of bank accounts, acquisition of goods or services, contracts, among others. Students who need to open a Portuguese bank account should go to one of these public services, as soon as they arrive in Lisbon, and make their request, this is free of charge. They must take their ID/Passport with them and the proof of their current residence here in Portugal.
Please note that international providers such as WISE or Revolut can be accepted only as a temporary option. In any case, students are responsible for sharing their bank details with the TISE secretariat as soon as possible in order to allow a smooth payment process of the scholarship.

Appeal Policy
Any TISE student has right to appeal when he/she feels that the assessment has, in his/her individual case, did not meet the standards. Submission of an appeal does not mean that the appeal will be granted.
Appeals may be submitted only by the student, while appeals submitted by a third party will not be considered.
Where the appeal is deemed to be malicious or vexatious, or where false information is submitted, the appeal will not be considered and disciplinary or legal action may be taken as appropriate.
If a student chooses to appeal, the request must comply with the following:
- The appeal form (see Annex 1 in our Guidelines for Students) must be received in a written form (either e-mail or hard copy)
within 20 working days of the date of the original decision, stating how student considers the
assessment to have been unfairly considered. - The appeal form can be accompanied by any relevant supporting documentation (submitted
either as e-mail attachments or as hard copy).
The appeal will be considered by an appeal committee nominated by the TISE Consortium.
